General overview
We have established an Internship Programme to provide current MSc students in Geospatial, Meteorology and Oceanography matters with the opportunity to intern at this Maritime Centre of Excellence (CoE). By recruiting new interns, this NATO CoE aims to strengthen its engagement with civilian academia while increasing the visibility of the Centre.
Interns will have the opportunity to learn from the NATO Maritime GEOMETOC CoE and to gain an understanding of the NATO community of more than 30 CoEs. On the other hand, the Centre will have access to the latest theoretical and technical knowledge, which the interns will be able to apply through practical work assignments and additional staff resources.
Eligibility criteria
To be considered for an internship, the applicant must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Current MSc students.
- Depending on the project, candidates may be required to have a degree in a specific subject area (but always related to geospatial, meteorological and oceanographic fields of study).
- Be a citizen of a NATO member state.
- Must be at least 21 years old and should not be over 35.
- As the working language of the CoE is English, candidates must be proficient in this language.
Internship details
- CoE accepts up to 2 interns per academic year.
- Internships last up to 12 months.
- Interns will receive a monthly stipend for the duration of the internship to cover some expenses. Arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern.
- Interns are not employees of the COE and will not be considered as part of the CoE staff.
- Interns must be covered by accident insurance for occupational risks (invalidity/death) for the duration of their internship. Students will be required to provide proof of adequate health insurance coverage upon entry.
Security requirements
All students working at the Maritime GEOMETOC CoE will require security clearance from their national authorities (the Centre will support them in this task). Until the necessary security clearance has been obtained, interns will work outside the premises of the Centre, in a suitable space provided by the CoE.
Submission of applications
Applications for placements must be submitted through the appropriate channels provided by the student's university. For further details, please contact info@mgeometoccoe.org.
