Visit of United Nations Permanent Representatives

On 9 February, Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives to the United Nations paid a visit to the NATO Maritime GEOMETOC Centre of Excellence.

The visit formed part of their official programme at the Portuguese Hydrographic Institute and provided an opportunity for the distinguished delegation to gain insight into the Centre’s mission, structure, and strategic objectives.

The discussions covered the evolving maritime security environment, the increasing influence of climate change on operational planning and the significance of reliable environmental intelligence for informed decision-making at strategic and operational levels.

The visit underscored the value of international cooperation, multilateral dialogue, and scientific collaboration in promoting maritime environmental security. It further reinforced the role of the Centre as a hub for expertise and partnership within the wider international maritime community.​
