Our COE supported the Ocean Observation Systems course at Instituto Superior Técnico.
On 25 May, during the Ocean Modelling for Operational Use seminar, we presented our mission and explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation with academia. The seminar highlighted the relevance of the REPMUS exercise as a unique operational testbed for maritime and oceanographic innovation within the NATO framework.
We also shared insights from an AI-driven ocean modelling initiative currently under development, combining open-source datasets with results and outputs from REPMUS. This effort aims to demonstrate how advanced modelling tools can evolve into operationally relevant products that support maritime decision-making.
This collaboration represents an excellent opportunity to deepen synergies with Instituto Superior Técnico, advancing shared interests in operational ocean modelling, atmosphere-ocean interaction, data exploitation, and maritime situational awareness.
