From 20 to 22 October 2026, the NATO Maritime GEOMETOC Centre of Excellence hosted the 19th Military Committee Working Group (MCWG) on Meteorological and Oceanographic (METOC) Meeting at the Portuguese Hydrographic Institute in Lisbon.
Representatives from NATO nations, Allied Commands and the wider METOC community met to discuss developments and priorities across the discipline, including doctrine and standardization, operational and transformational requirements, climate change and security, data resilience, and emerging technologies.
The meeting offered an opportunity to exchange views, share experiences, and identify areas requiring further cooperation across the NATO METOC community.
The Maritime GEOMETOC CoE was pleased to support the meeting and contribute to this exchange.
