NATO´s Geospatial Maritime Working Group Technical Panel Meetings – NACPP TP17 and GMWG TP15 host by Portugal

​​​​​​The NATOs Geospatial Maritime Working Group (GMWG) Technical Panels (TP) Meetings – NATO Additional Military Layers (AML) Co-Production Programme TP17 and GMWG TP15 were host by Portugal at the Hydrographic Institute, from 28th to 31th October 2019. These Technical Panels are compose of representatives from NATO Nations and Strategic Commands and other NATO Institutions that have agreed to participate in these activities. The meetings take place at least once a year to monitor the progress of the work develop by its members, for GMWG TP meeting the objectives were primarily in maintain and develop AML and non-AML products specifications and supporting documents and future requirements. At the NACCP TP, is where the contributing nations present the work develop to the NATO AML Co-Production Programme and where is discuss future lines of actions and plans of work for this programme.

The purpose of the NATO AML Co-Production Programme (NACPP) is to enable nations to engage in a cooperative programme of AML production, particularly in potential crisis areas, in support of NATO´s concept of a Recognised Environmental Picture and wider NATO Geospatial Policy Objectives.

The NATO Geospatial Policy encourages joint cooperative efforts between nations in meeting national defence requirements and responsibilities for the provision of digital information.
