MGEOMETOC COE - 1st Steering Committee Meeting

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The 1st Steering Committee Meeting of the future NATO Maritime Geospatial Meteorological and Oceanographic Centre of Excellence (MGEOMETOC COE) was held in Lisbon, at the Hydrographic Institute on 14th and 15th September 2020.

The meeting was chaired by the Steering Committee Chairman, Rear Admiral Carlos Ventura Soares and was attended by representatives of Portugal, Romania, Spain and Turkey the Sponsoring Nations of the COE.

Canada, France, Netherlands and the United States of America were present as observers, and in the near future may join the MGEOMETOC COE as Sponsoring Nations.

Representatives of Headquarters Supreme Allied Command Transformation and Supreme Headquarters Allied Power Europe attended the meeting as observers.

The aim of this meeting was to establish the baseline for the relationship between the Sponsoring Nations concerning the management of the MGEOMETOC COE namely to discuss and approve essential documents for the future NATO accreditation and operation of the COE.

The outcome of the 1st Steering Committee Meeting of the MGEOMETOC COE was the approval of the MGEOMETOC COE Concept; the organisation and respective Job Descriptions; the Programme of Work for 2021; the Budget for 2021; the Financial Administrative Procedures; The Mid-Term Financial Plan (2022-2026) and the Standard Operating Procedures.

The 2nd Steering Committee will take place on 18 May 2021 through Video teleconference.​
