The NATO Maritime Geospatial, Meteorological, and Oceanographic Centre of Excellence (GEOMETOC COE) is pleased to announce an internship opportunity as part of its efforts to strengthen relationships with academia, support NATO initiatives, and advance critical research and development.
Internship TopicSpatial-Temporal Data Processing in Physical Oceanography
The focus of this internship is on the development of a 4D oceanographic cubic volume to process and integrate water column data. This project will leverage climatological and real-time data from various sensors, using datasets collected during the Portuguese Navy’s Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unmanned Systems (REPMUS) exercise series, held annually on the Tróia peninsula.
Key Objectives- Develop a robust framework for handling oceanographic data, including conductivity, temperature, depth, and sound velocity.
- Support NATO’s Rapid Environmental Assessment initiatives for exercises and operations.
- Contribute to enhancing NATO’s underwater warfare capabilities by providing oceanographic information for unmanned systems and sonar calibration.
