Visit of the Chief of the Romanian Naval Forces, Vice-Admiral Mihai Panait

​​​​​​On 10 January, the NATO Maritime Geospatial, Meteorological & Oceanographic Centre of Excellence (MGEOMETOC COE) received a visit from the Chief of the Romanian Naval Forces, Vice-Admiral Mihai Panait.


During the visit, the Chief of the Romanian Naval Forces was received and accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Portuguese Navy, Admiral Gouveia e Melo, and the Director General of the Portuguese Hydrographic Institute and Chairman of the MGEOMETOC COE Steering Committee, Rear Admiral Ramalho Marreiros.
The visit included a briefing by NATO MGEOMETOC COE Director, Navy Captain Miguel Arenga, on the role of NATO's Centres of Excellence, MGEOMETOC COE, and some of the Centre's main activities and projects. It was emphasised that in order to achieve superiority in the maritime domain, accurate, timely, relevant, consistent, comprehensive and reliable Geospatial, Meteorological and Oceanographic information plays a crucial role and must be available from the start of the planning process to support commanders and their staffs.

Finally, they visited the Centre facilities and had the opportunity to meet the MGEOMETOC COE team.​
