On 29 February, the NATO Maritime GEOMETOC COE participated in the Maritime Situational Awareness (MSA) Working Group hosted by the NATO MARSEC COE.
We were represented by Capt. Umit Gorur (Concept Development and Experimentation Branch Head), the Experimentation and Exercises Staff Officer and the Oceanography Staff Officer.
MSA encompasses the understanding of everything relevant to maritime safety, security, economics, and the environment. It's a critical component of Maritime Security Operations (MSO), which aims to achieve information superiority in the maritime domain. All NATO and national maritime or joint operations centres have a role to play in producing accurate and timely MSA, which requires effective data sharing between Allies and civilian agencies
