The NATO Maritime GEOMETOC Centre of Excellence (CoE) participated in the 14th edition of the Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping augmented by Maritime Unmanned Systems (REPMUS) exercise, the world's largest maritime unmanned systems experimentation event, held in the Bay of Setúbal, Portugal. Organized by the Portuguese Navy in collaboration with NATO, the European Union and leading academic institutions, REPMUS focuses on the testing and integration of autonomous systems for both military and civil applications.
As the coordinator of the Rapid Environmental Assessment (REA) working group, the CoE played a critical role in providing environmental data and analysis to support operational decision-making. The exercise, which has attracted more than 150 organizations from 30 countries, involved 16 ships, including submarines, and more than 100 unmanned vehicles operating in underwater, surface, land and air domains.
By participating in this prestigious event, the NATO Maritime GEOMETOC CoE advances maritime security and environmental awareness within the Alliance, enhancing not only NATO's interoperability and technological capabilities but also its role in defense innovation.
