Visit of General SACT to the MGEOMETOC COE

​​On the 20th of April 2021, the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT) General André Lanata, visited Portugal at the invitation of the Ministry of National Defence.

During the visit, General SACT went to all NATO units established in Portugal, including the NATO Maritime Geospatial, Meteorological & Oceanographic Centre of Excellence (MGEOMETOC COE).

This was the second visit of General Lanata to the MGEOMETOC COE, based at the Hydrographic Institute in Lisbon. General Lanata was welcomed by the Chief of Staff of the Portuguese Navy, Admiral António Mendes Calado, and the General Director of the Portuguese Hydrographic Institute, Rear Admiral Ventura Soares.

The visit began with a presentation provided by the Director of the MGEOMETOC COE, Captain Fernando Artilheiro, regarding the mission, programme of work and future endeavours of the Maritime GEOMETOC COE.

After that, General Lanata visited the COE facilities and had the opportunity to meet the MGEOMETOC COE staff.

At the end, General SACT expressed that he was very impressed with the work done and expectant to see the development of the future relationship between NATO and the MGEOMETOC COE.
